Packing Electronics Tips - NextDayBoxes.com
from
Electronics can be pretty challenging to pack. While it is best to put them in their original packaging, not everyone holds onto such items. Thus, you'll often have to use new packing materials to ensure they are safely packed.
What You'll Need
To pack your electronics, you'll need the following packing supplies:
Small and medium cardboard boxes
Paper pads
Stack of packing paper
Roll of tape
Permanent marker
How To Pack Electronics
Packing electronics requires a lot of work, since the slightest bump can cause severe damage to them. That is why you should pack each item in a box that is only slightly larger than the item itself. The more closely fitting a box is, the more protected your electronic item will be.
Before you start packing the electronics up, make sure the items are ready to be packed. Remove any videos or discs from VCRs, CD players, or DVD players. Once empty, turn the items off. The next step is to remove the wires. Before removing them, though, you'll want to label them. Simply wrap a piece of tape around one end of the wire, and label it with what appliance it belongs to. Then, you can remove the wire, bundle it together, and put a piece of tape around the bundle to keep it together. If you have the user manuals of any of your electronics, consult these to make sure you disconnect everything the right way.
TIP: If you are worried that you won't remember how to reconnect the electronics, take a picture of the configuration. When reconnecting electronics in your new home, us the picture as a reference.
After removing the wires, your electronics should be ready for packing. Take an item and place it on a paper pad. Then, wrap the item with the paper as though you were wrapping a present and tape it closed. Place the item in a box with plenty of packing paper on the bottom. You'll want to reinforce your electronic item by putting extra cushioning around the corners and top. If it fits snugly and doesn't move around in the box, go ahead and close it. Seal the box with tape and label it accordingly.
